Proverbs 6
Devotional:
There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community. (Proverbs 6:16-19).
This section highlights wisdom to a son regarding debts, work, sin, and seduction, with verses 16-19 focusing on the area of sin. Most of these sins are connected to things we do in or through our body. The things despised by God are done by various parts of our body: eyes, tongue, hands, heart, feet, and even our breath. God is concerned about how we honor and worship Him, but He is also concerned about how we treat others. The seventh thing — sowing discord among the brothers — is the culmination of the first six, and considered an abomination to the Lord. Are we honoring God in how we treat others, those whom He has made?

Pray it:
Lord, I want to live in a way that is good and pleasing to you. Help me display my faith in every area of my life and demonstrate a servant’s heart by praising you with every part of my body: my eyes, tongue, hands, heart, feet, and even breath. Amen.
