Exodus 1

Devotional:
Eventually, a new king came to power in Egypt who knew nothing about Joseph or what he had done. (Exodus 1:8).

As Genesis concludes and Exodus begins, there is a 180 degree change for the people of Israel. When Genesis ends, they were being blessed because God had used Joseph to bless the Israelites and Egyptians. But now a new king is in power in Egypt and he doesn’t know who Joseph is. He is afraid of the Israelites overtaking his power so he tries to kill their male children and then puts the Israelites into slavery. As we read through Exodus, we will see that God is faithful no matter how our circumstances appear to us.

How do you need to see God’s faithfulness today? Are you in a place of blessing, or do you feel like you are in a place of suffering?
Pray it:
Father, thank you for this reminder that you are faithful both in good times and bad. Forgive me for forgetting or doubting your faithfulness and remind me that you are always faithful and help others be able to see your faithful hand at work. Amen.
