Leviticus 2

Devotional:
Season all your grain offerings with salt to remind you of God’s eternal covenant. Never forget to add salt to your grain offerings. (Leviticus 2:13)

The purpose of grain offerings was worship of God rather than atonement for sins, as it was a way to acknowledge God as the source of all provision. There were a few expectations and restrictions for grain offerings but also a fair amount of freedom and every grain offering would likely appear, smell and taste different. One of the requirements was salt. Salt is a preservative and enhances flavor, showing both the eternality of God’s promise and also the goodness of it. Salt was a reminder to the people of Israel regarding God’s covenant and commitment to them as His people. Do you reflect on God’s covenant and how He has fulfilled His promises? May we daily joyfully worship our Lord for the works He has done, is doing and promises to do!
Pray it:
Father, thank you for making promises to me and for keeping them time after time. I praise you as the one from whom all blessings flow and the one who always keeps His promises. Amen.
