Numbers 13

Devotional:
But Caleb tried to quiet the people as they stood before Moses. “Let’s go at once to take the land,” he said. “We can certainly conquer it!” (Numbers 13:30)

Twelve spies were sent into the land of Canaan to check out the land. The land was, as God had said, flowing with milk and honey. However, they also noted that the people and the cities looked strong and difficult to conquer. Only Caleb spoke up and believed that the Lord would help them take the land; the other spies let fear cloud their view and tell the people they should not go into the land. How often do we let our fear cloud our vision? How often do we perceive an obstacle as insurmountable before us even though God has promised to care for us? May fear not get in the way of moving towards God’s best for us in our lives.
Pray it:
Father, help me remember that you are with me and that you are more powerful and stronger than the things I fear. May I see those things that induce fear in me as opportunities to remember your presence and see your might. Amen.
