Romans 14

Devotional:
If we live, it’s to honor the Lord. And if we die, it’s to honor the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. (Romans 14:8)

The question is often asked, “If you were to die tonight, would you go to heaven?” My hope is that your answer would be an emphatic, “Yes!” If you believe that Jesus died to save you, you belong to Him, and if you belong to Him, then you should be concerned not only about what happens after death, but also about what happens while you live. Do I live like I belong to Christ? Would others say that I live for Him or for myself? Jesus is not just waiting for us at the finish line — He is here now, running the race with us. Our lives and deaths should be marked by the all-surpassing power of Christ in us, so others are encouraged to join the race that is only run and finished for Jesus.
Pray it:
Father, help me to remember that I belong to you in life and in death so that I might be wholeheartedly willing and ready to live for you as long as I live and not to fear the day of my death. Amen.
