Numbers 28

Devotional:
The Lord said to Moses, “Give these instructions to the people of Israel: The offerings you present as special gifts are a pleasing aroma to me; they are my food. See to it that they are brought at the appointed times and offered according to my instructions. (Numbers 28:1-2)

Because a new generation has emerged, God has Moses state again the offerings to be made. While we might not offer these exact sacrifices today, we can still learn from them. First, notice that these sacrifices were not just offered occasionally but regularly; worship and service were to be a continual activity. Second, in placing these offerings before they go into the land, it is a reminder of their first importance. Finally, when we see that God calls for His people to give things like strong wine, pure lambs, and their first fruits, we are reminded that God asks for our best — not our leftovers. Are you giving God your best? Is He taking priority in your daily life? Or is time for God relegated to whatever spare time you may have? Resolve today to put Him first, to give Him your best each day.
Pray it:
Father, you are worthy of continual worship and of the best I can offer. Help me put you first and at the center of my life today and each day. Amen.
