Proverbs 31

Devotional:
Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised. (Proverbs 31:30).

King Lemuel’s mother noted the passing nature of outer beauty and the deceitful nature of manipulative charm. In contrast to this, note that a woman who fears the Lord has beauty that does not pass and charm that does not deceive. These virtues mark and identify the woman who fears the Lord. What a great way to end the Book of Proverbs, as it is a reminder that God’s wisdom endures. While the false wisdom of the world may look good, it is ultimately deceitful and will not lead us to the life God has designed for us, but rather to pain and destruction.
Pray it:
Lord, I know that true beauty lies within and is found through fearing you. Instill in me a fearful reverence for you and help me to stay on the righteous path. May your truth and love power my heart to share your story. Amen.
