Exodus 16
Devotional:
There, too, the whole community of Israel complained about Moses and Aaron. (Exodus 16:2).
When I read Exodus, I often look at the Israelites and wonder why they just don’t get it. Here they are in the desert, having been set free from slavery in Egypt, and they are still COMPLAINING! “If only we were still in Egypt – at least there we had meat to eat”. . . and yet, God still provides for them. He brings manna, literally translated, “What is it?” because they had never seen this food source before.
Whenever I am tempted to judge the Israelites, I look in the mirror, because I tend to do the same thing. I can operate out of a “scarcity mindset,” focusing on what I don’t have instead of what I do have. When I do that, I start to forget all God has done, and what He will do.
Thank God for His faithfulness today and that He doesn’t separate from us when we have the wrong perspective and are people who would rather complain about what we don’t have instead of being thankful for what we do have.

Pray it:
Father, give me this day my “daily bread” — the things that I ultimately need when I need them rather than the things that I think I want or things that I think I will need down the road. Like the Israelities, may I see your hand of provision each day, not living as if I don’t have enough, but recognizing in Christ you will give me all that I need and do abundantly more than I could ask or imagine. Amen.
