Genesis 4
Devotional:
You will be accepted if you do what is right. But if you refuse to do what is right, then watch out! Sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be its master.” (Genesis 4:7 NLT)
God knew Cain’s jealous and hateful heart towards Abel, and before Cain killed his brother, God told Cain that he had a choice in how he handled his feelings. Because Cain didn’t listen to God, he lived a restless, difficult life distant from God. God tells us that we, too, have choices. Sin is always crouching at our door and desires to have us. How must we rule over it day by day?

Pray it:
Father, I confess that at times, I too, am prone to be jealous of others. In those moments, may you direct my heart towards your great love, towards me, and towards others rather than down Cain’s path of anger and hatred. Help me to resist sin and let you, not it, be master over me. Amen.
