Genesis 50

Devotional:
You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people. (Genesis 50:20 NLT)

The story of Joseph is a great example of Paul’s words in Romans 8:28: “We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.” Joseph was treated poorly by his brothers, yet God used those moments of weakness to prepare a way of strength and direction. Throughout all of Scripture we see God’s redeeming work — taking messed up situations and using them for good to accomplish what He intends to. We can have hope because Jesus made it possible for us to have complete redemption. As muddled up as things might get, we know that as we turn to Christ, He will work in it for the good. What area or situation in your life does that bring hope to?
Pray it:
Father, help me to remember that you have the power to make even the evil things of this world work out for good and to trust that no matter what is going on in my life, you have a plan and purpose to make me like Christ. Amen.
