Genesis 46

Devotional:
“I am God, the God of your father,” the voice said. “Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for there I will make your family into a great nation. I will go with you down to Egypt, and I will bring you back again. You will die in Egypt, but Joseph will be with you to close your eyes.” (Genesis 46:3-4 NLT)

Maybe you have noticed the trend of how God continues to reassure Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob of the promise made to Abraham back in Genesis 12. God makes sure Jacob knows God has not abandoned His promises and even reunites Jacob with Joseph! What changes are you going through? Are you moving to another town as Jacob was or contemplating a job change? Maybe you are about to change seasons of life – getting married, having children, children going off to school or becoming an empty nester? Maybe you have experienced the death of a loved one and are adjusting to life without them. Whatever your “Egypt” may be, God is telling you, “Do not be afraid…I will go down to Egypt with you.” And if we know God, we know we are not alone in our journey!
Pray it:
Jesus, thank you that in the midst of the many changes that happen in my life and in this world, you remain the same and are present with me. Help me remember that you are with me whether I go and that I have nothing to be afraid of because you are with me. Amen.
