Luke 1

Devotional:
For the word of God will never fail.” (Luke 1:37)

Luke begins his gospel explaining that he writes to provide ‘the certainty of the things about which you have been instructed (v. 4). God’s sovereignty was certain. Our sin was certain. But it was only in the person of Jesus Christ that those two certainties could collide to create the possibility of our salvation. The God we serve will not let impossibility stand in the way of His deep love for us. Zechariah and Mary had two very different responses to God’s impossible promises. Will you trust the certainty of God’s Word when life seems impossible?
Pray it:
Father, I thank you for making the impossible possible in terms of forgiving my sins and restoring me into a relationship with you through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. Help me know the certainty of my forgiveness as I am reminded of the reality of Jesus’ work on my behalf. Amen.
