Luke 3

Devotional:
John answered their questions by saying, “I baptize you with water; but someone is coming soon who is greater than I am—so much greater that I’m not even worthy to be his slave and untie the straps of his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. (Luke 3:16)

John the Baptist was an interesting character, to say the least. He was born under miraculous circumstances; he was the fulfillment of prophecy; he brought good news to hurting people; and he wasn’t afraid to speak the truth. But he wasn’t the Messiah who people were waiting for. As great as people thought John was, he himself admitted that Jesus was infinitely greater. John wasn’t ashamed to be bold in proclaiming the coming of the King. Are you willing to stand out for Jesus?
Pray it:
Jesus, I confess that at times I seek to live in my own strength or for my own glory. Forgive me for thinking that I am the Messiah and give me the strength to trust in you more this day as my Savior and point others to you as well.
